On this page I will keep you posted as to how everything is moving along.
November-December 2009, TJs Chinchilla Supplies launched their website.
Here is it April 2010, four-five months into our opening.
I would of thought that by now business what of been better than it is. While I realize that business will not pick up "overnight", TJs has hardly any at all. We can't even
send a care package to an already established chinchilla rescue. While I do know that there are some people in the chinchilla community that will be very happy to see TJs fail,
there are many chinchillas that are hoping for success. At this point, I can just pray things will be different very soon.
April 1, 2010 - Mara won a contest with Carefresh and is having food sent from them to Finally Home Chinchillas. She will also be sending: mix of treats, hay cubes, and
other miscellaneous items. I would like to thank Mara very much for donating items to Marne's Rescue!
May 2010
This past month has been quite different from all the others. While business is far from booming [and I don't expect it to be at this point], I can not complain. I had to
change some prices because I was taking a loss, if you are wondering why they changed, that is why; and I still have to make some changes. Sorry everyone!
[I sure didn't go to business school. ] I won't be able to help out rescues if I do not make some more changes. I am definately learning as I go. I can not wait for the day
that everything is in its place. I'm thinking about adding some more package deals, but this time, ones with a variety of items.
If you are reading this, please let me know what you think about that.
Something I have been pondering is sending some care packages out to rescues. It will take quite a long time to save enough to open my own rescue, so in the meantime
I would love to help out other rescues. I'm am asking my customers to let me know what you think of that? Or do you think I should save, save, save until
I can open my own rescue. You folks will determine the answer to that question. Also, if you all vote to help out other rescues, you can also suggest places to
send pacakges too!
I want to thank everyone for their support and understanding as I am learning as I proceed.
June 2010
We had another slow month. After last month I was hoping to be able to send a care package out soon, but I guess I was too optimistic.
We only had one person suggest some rescues to send packages to, and to be honest, I lost the email. If you are reading this I do apologize and please send me those
names again.
July 2010
TJs had an average of about 3-4 orders per week. We still have a long way to go before we can send out any care packages - even small ones. Unfortunately, no one else
has donated any toys. I do know for a fact that Finally Home is in dire need for items, as I'm sure they all are. I am aware times are very tough these days, but if you can
spare just a few extra dollars, I'm sure just a toss toy would be greatly appreciated. Remember, no toy or item is too small, they are all part of a bigger package and helps
many chinchillas in need.
While TJs does not have the funds to donate yet, I, personally, am going to donate a toy, with hopes others will follow along. I am choosing Finally Home to donate my first
toy too because Marne, the owner, has been wonderful to me. Whenever I need help with anything, Marne is always there. When I have doubts about something
on my site, I turn to Marne for her wealth of knowledge so I can keep my site safe. Thank you Marne for all the help and knowledge you have given to me.
August 2010
Another quick month has passed. Time needs to slow down a bit. Business last month has stayed about them; I guess that is good thing, it couldn't of been quieter.
We had some people that wanted to donate somes and they are listed on the "Donation" page. I want to say thank you very much for their donations! If anyone is
interested in personally sending out a care package to one of the rescues on my site, send me an email and I will let everyone know the good news.
September 2010
First of all, I would like to apologize for being late with Septembers update. While TJs is starting to see repeat customers [thank you very much all!], we are still
struggling to make it. We have high hopes tho, and will not give up. We are constantly adding to our product line, which will hopefully help, and we also love
suggestions from our customers. Afterall it is you that keeps us in business!! And I would also like to take a moment to say THANK YOU to everyone
that has been shopping at TJs.
Bethany was kind enough this month to add to our donation list. So even tho TJs is not financial set to make donations yet, it is customers like Bethany and the others
that is helping to send the first care package. Thank you to everyone that has donated!!
November 2010
I realize I have not written anything on this page in a few months. The reason being as that, there is no good news to report. I haven't had any donations of any
kind to any rescues. To try to help some rescues this holiday season, I am putting on a raffle. For only $1.50, you can buy a chance to win a package for your pet
chinchilla and all the proceeds will go to rescues this holiday. Even if on small packages can be sent, anything is better than nothing. These rescues need our help, I know
times are tough for all of us, but try to think about all those non-profit rescues that are having even a harder time trying to take are of all those unwanted chinchillas. If
you are interested in purchasing a raffle ticket, please see my Package Deals page.
I also wanted to apologize for raising the price of the Oxbow Chin Delux 5 lb bag of food. I did not realize I made a mistake and actually was charging less than
it cost me to purchase it. So for those of you that had bought some, you got yourself a deal. :)
December 2010
I just wanted to let everyone know that as of Nov 26, TJs has been open one year. I want to thank all my customers for helping us stay open.
We still have 15 days left, so if you haven't purchased a raffle ticket yet, please do so. They are only $1.50. Winner will receive the package listed on the Package page.
TJs was very pleased with all the people that participated in the raffle making it possible to send two rescues care packages for the holidays. We thank you
all so much. I have to admit, I had a ball making their packages up. It feels so good to be able to help others out.
The winner of the raffle, Jamie B, was also kind of enough to donate her package to the rescues supported here. So when there are enough items to send,
we will be sending out more care packages. Thank you Jamie, for being so kind to donate your winning package.
I wrote to Monty's Place Chinchilla Rescue and Refuge, Inc. to let them know about the great news with the raffle, and I was told they no longer rescue chins.
Tiennie and Brittany were kind enough to donate again. Thank you to both of you, I know it will be appreciated.
February 2011
TJs sent out another care package to Finally Home Chinchillas and Small Angels in mid-January. Some of the items sent were from customers donations, and other items
were items TJs used from your proceeds. I have asked the rescues to please list on our FB
PAGE when they receive their donation, that way if you choose, you can keep track of it there.
Since Monty's Place closed their doors, we decided to add another resuce onto our list to receive packages. The name of that rescue is Applewood Rescue. If business gets
better I would love to add a fourth rescue onto our list to receive packages, so lets hope for the best! I was able to send a package to Applewood also.
April 2011
I have to apologize for being late with my monthly newsletter and all my new supplies. I have switched hosting sites because I had as free hosting site, but with
"free" comes very limited space and
I over-exceeded my limit. Now I'm having problems learning how to do everything with this new site. So if I have pictures missing, cart buttons missing, etc. this is why. I will try my
best to learn this new site as quick as possible, but I have to admit, it may take awhile. If you need to order something and their isn't a cart button or you are having a problem, please
send me an email
Oh, I never knew there would be so many problems with a web business. I am truely sorry.
May 2011
Unfortunately, we were not able to send out packages this month. I am hoping things get better so next month
we can pick back up and send three more care packages out. However, Small Angels was very lucky and received a nice package donated by
Martha G.
June 2011
June was a great month for donations, I would like to thank everyone that has donated, the list is on my Donation page.
I have supplement back in stock, and as you can see, I had to raise the price, I had it too low and was actually losing money, as well as some other items i have to
update the price. Sorry about that.
August 2011
A few more packages have been sent out, so many thanks to my customers for helping me to send out 4 packages. They can be seen on my
TJs FB page, under photos, there is a donations
folder.
November 2011
I know I haven't written in awhile, it is very difficult to run a webstore with no help. To see donations sent out, I ask you to join
my TJs FB page and you can keep track.
I have a folder called "Donations" and all the rescues put photos of their donations for everyone to see.
